“" The difference between ordinary and extra ordinary is that little bit extra" We had the most extraordinary experience at this piece of paradise. The staff all went the extra mile to see to our every needs providing a romantic Valentines weekend for us! Rose petals everywhere, a personalized gift that my partner had arranged with Mareeza prior to our arrival. Her attention to detail including our bush sundowners during our game drive around the fire pit was extra beautifully done. Our guide, Leon , even though young , has such obvious enthusiasm and knowledge of the bush! Thank you to all for an efficiently run game reserve that assisted in creating an extra special time!”

“What an incredible weekend getaway spot! We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the Treehouse celebrating a very special 10-year wedding anniversary. Perfect spot to escape from the world, recharge and reconnect.”

“Perfect getaway retreat just a short distance from cape town and winelands. Easy and safe drive to the game reserve. We stayed in the Waterfall pod with the semi-catering package and was plenty food for our stay & had fun cooking on the BBQ and pizza oven. Highly recommend for a special few days!”

“Breathtaking experience. Ideal break away from the city. Experiencing nature first hand, enjoying the fireplace daily and finishing the day of with a nice braai or use of the pizza oven. Obviously, enjoying the hot tub on a wet cold autumn day.”

About Melozhori

The history of Melozhori is the story of the Bhorat family and their search for a getaway in nature to call their own. With no history of agriculture, but a passion for conservation and wildlife, the family acquired an old sheep and cattle farm in 2008 on the historic wagon-trading route between the Overberg and Cape Town.

Conservation

Just a few of the mammals that can be found in the reserve are zebra, giraffe, eland, kudu, red hartebeest, sable antelope, waterbuck, bushbuck, black-backed jackal and the bat-eared fox. The once endangered bontebok, now protected, thrives on the reserve. Special bird species include the blue crane, black harrier and cape vulture. The reserve also participates in local conservation efforts to monitor and protect the elusive Cape Leopard, which has been spotted on the rare occasion.
