“My family and I spent the weekend at this absolute hidden treasure. This game reserve is top class luxury and pure relaxation. The lodge has staff who are always willing to go the extra mile. We saw so many animals and the kids just loved the up close experiences with the wildlife. The rooms are immaculate and the lodge is so comfortable. A beautiful deck overlooks the mountains with the animals and a rim flow pool to relax in. A must for nature lovers.”

“Had the privilege of staying in all three of their accommodation offerings - the Pod, the Cottage & the beautiful Lodge... and all I can say is wow wow wow! An experience that I will never forget. The reserve is so naturally beautiful and peaceful, you really feel like you are escaping the hustle and bustle of the city. I would recommend Melozhori to anyone and can't wait to visit again.”

“We loved our time at Melozhori, the combination of peaceful seclusion in nature while still having every luxury at hand was fantastic. The design and decoration of the Waterfall pod is brilliant - from the amazing views from each section to the hot tub, pizza oven, and double-sided fireplace, you have everything you need and more.”

About Melozhori

The history of Melozhori is the story of the Bhorat family and their search for a getaway in nature to call their own. With no history of agriculture, but a passion for conservation and wildlife, the family acquired an old sheep and cattle farm in 2008 on the historic wagon-trading route between the Overberg and Cape Town.

Conservation

Just a few of the mammals that can be found in the reserve are zebra, giraffe, eland, kudu, red hartebeest, sable antelope, waterbuck, bushbuck, black-backed jackal and the bat-eared fox. The once endangered bontebok, now protected, thrives on the reserve. Special bird species include the blue crane, black harrier and cape vulture. The reserve also participates in local conservation efforts to monitor and protect the elusive Cape Leopard, which has been spotted on the rare occasion.
